This program prepares students to be professional Medical Assistants dedicated to patient care management. Graduates are equipped to assist physicians with examinations and treatments, take medical histories, perform diagnostic tests, perform basic EKG, sterilize instruments, assist with minor surgeries, and administer medications. The program goal is to prepare students for an entry-level Medical Assistant in a clinic or hospital setting. Students who successfully complete the Program with an 80% in instruction and 80% in externship will be eligible to take their state examination, offered by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA).

Medical Assistant Administrative and Clinical Curriculum:

Program: 280 hours of instruction and hands-on learning.

Tuesdays & Thursdays: in-person instruction and hands-on learning.

Fridays: 0n-line learning via Zoom.

Externship of 160 of unpaid hours. (must pass the instruction part)

Students must pass background/drug screening.

Students must have proof of COVID-19 Vaccination card to be placed in externship. We will follow all COVID-19 CDC guidelines.

Program Requirements:

18 years of age & up

High School Diploma or GED

Prerequisites for externship after the completion of Instructional hours:

Copies must be turned in to the Program Coordinator: Immunization health records/COVID-19 Vaccine card, Background Check, CPR card by American Health Association, Current Resume, and Driver's License/ID.

PAY-IN-FULL online:

Click on "ENROLL YOURSELF" (located on top of the page) then the system will prompt you to set up an account and pay with a debit/credit card - Visa, Mastercard or Discover. Full payment of $2,710.00 is required. Be sure to notify your bank before making the payment to prevent payment from declining.

PAYMENT PLAN AGREEMENT:

1. Set up an account by "ENROLL YOURSELF" then email Shirley.chapin@deltacollege.edu to request for a payment plan.

2. Shirley will post the $600 initial payment invoice to your account: payable by Credit/Debit card.

3. You will be notified via email to go to your account to make the initial payment.

4. After payment is cleared, Shirley will send via DocuSign (electronic signature) a Payment Plan Agreement to pay 5 monthly online payments of $422.00 for your signature.

Whether paying in full or making payments, $300 is NON-REFUNDABLE if a student attends the first day of class; funds are used to purchase course training supplies and to pay for administrative fees. NO refunds after the first day of class.

This program is NOT-for-credit and NOT eligible for financial aid assistance.

Program Cancellation Policy:

Workforce Training Institute may cancel a course at any time prior to the start date due to low enrollment. In the event of this occurring, a full refund will be issued. NOTE: Register Early! If we do not have minimum enrollment 48 hours before class starts, class will be cancelled or postponed.

Refund or Transfer Policy:

To request a refund or to transfer, students must submit a written request to the Workforce Training Institute to Rosalva by emailing rosalva.ibarra@deltacollege.edu. Refund or Transfer request approvals may only be made for unusual or mitigating circumstances. Examples of mitigating circumstances include but are not limited to: Death in the family, serious illness, or other reasons which are beyond the student's control. Failing to make academic progress will not constitute eligibility to transfer to a new course or to any type of refund. If a student withdraws before the 1st day of class, a $25 Administrative and processing fee will be charged.
