Pharmacy Technician Certification Program

THIS CLASS IS FOR RETAIL TRAINING AND TEST ONLY!

A Pharmacy Technicians assist in various activities of compounding, distributing and dispensing medications, maintaining client records and using skills, knowledge, and training to perform a wide variety of pharmacy related tasks. Upon successful program completion, student will be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certifying Board (PTCB) exam, register as Pharmacy Technician through the Board of Pharmacy of the State of California and work as a competent entry-level assistant under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (https://www.bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/pharmacy-technicians.htm), projects employment of pharmacy technicians to grow 12 percent from 2016 to 2026.

Pharmacy Technician Curriculum:

  • Program: 136 hours of classroom and hands-on learning
  • Externship Placement: 120 hours - Completion of PTCB required
  • Note: Students must pass drug screen and background check to be placed in externship

    Program Requirements:

  • 18 years of age
  • *High School diploma or equivalent or concurrent enrollment
  • Foreign high school diploma. Requires complete foregin transcript degree evaluation. Go to: http:/naces.org/members.html or http:/aice-eval.org/members/
  • * Candidates who are within 60 days of acquiring their high school diploma or equivalent educational diploma will be eligible to apply for the PTCE. PTCB Certification will not be granted until proof of high school completion (or equivalent) is provided to PTCB.

  • The system will prompt you to set up an account and pay with a debit/credit card. System only takes full payment of $1,440.00. Notify your bank before making the payment to prevent payment from declining.
  • Payment Plan Agreement:

  • Register in-person at San Joaquin Delta College, Building Locke 107. Must complete a Payment Agreement and pay $360 at time of registration. Remaining balance: three monthly payments of $360 each month from April - June 2019. Acceptable form of payment: Check or money order payable to SJDC. Credit/Debit: Visa, Discover, and MasterCard.
  • Note: $100.00 IS NON-REFUNDABLE; funds are used to purchase course training supplies ordered before course start date and administration fees.
