This course is at NO-COST and priority to current delta students who are unemployed AND low-income.

To be eligible for this program you must meet ALL the below criteria:

  • Be a current Delta College student

  • Be currently UNEMPLOYED AND have an individual annual gross income of less than $49,460.

    Pre-registration requirement:

    1. Create an account by clicking on ENROLL YOURSELF, then follow the Onlline Registration instruction.

    2. Email Shirley @ Shirley.chapin@deltacollege.edu, to let her know you met all the criteria.

    3. Then She will send via DocuSign a "Self-Certification form" for you to complete, sign & return.

    4. Shirley will notify via email if you are enrolled or reason why you're not eligible.

    This program is designed to train students to draw blood samples in a clinical laboratory or public health setting. Over the course of the program, students will gain exposure to on-the-job duties that include drawing blood samples from patients, producing quality laboratory results, gaining the trust and confidence of patients, and much more. The program will prepare students to take the exam for Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and State license. Externships will be arranged by the Delta College Phlebotomy Program Coordinator. The program includes 84 hours of classroom instruction and a 40-hour clinical phlebotomy externship. 100% Attendance is required.

    Phlebotomy Technician Curriculum:

    • Program: 84 hours of classroom and hands-on learning
    • Externship Placement: 40 hours - Students must be available to work full time hours while on externship.

      Note: Students must pass background/drug screening and have proof of COVID-19 Vaccination card to be placed in externship. Current COVID-19 guidelines require wearing a mask indoors and maintaining appropriate social distancing.

      According to CDPH, all healthcare workers must receive the COVID-19 Vaccine.

      Program Requirements:

    • 18 years of age and up
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Foreign high school diploma requires complete foreign transcript degree evaluation.

      Prerequisites for externship must be completed by the 6th week of class:

      • Immunization health records
      • According to CDPH, all healthcare workers must receive the COVID-19 Vaccine.
